Baby Lucas Jeffrey

The journey....the happy results!

It was Thursday, December 4th and I thought that my water had broken...Jeff and I were off to the hospital! We were excited and nervous (at least I was) all at the same time. We waited in the triage for 4 hours...once we were seen, I was hooked up to a monitor. Lucas' heart rate dropped once while I was on the monitor. The nurse said that I was going to be admitted because of that. I was brought a labor room and that's when the fun began. :) I was induced (even though I was only 1 cm dilated) I was induced Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday. NOTHING! Lucas' heart rate dropped twice more and things started getting emotional. I wasn't dilating any more and I was effacing too slow. (even though I was experiencing contractions every minute!) Jeff and I decided for the health of the baby and the sanity of ourselves, I would get a C-Section. Saturday around 7pm I got an epidural and after that the fun began. The nurses prepped me for surgery and got Jeff dressed for the operation room. Our angel was born at 9:03 pm weighing 6 pounds and measuring 18 1/2 inches. He is absolutely PERFECT! We are so blessed to have a healthy, beautiful baby boy!

No more work for me...

Today was the first day I didn't go to work...and it's not because I'm not doing well...it's because another first grade student at my school has Fifth Disease!!!! Since I have the inclusion class, students from the "infected" class come into my classroom to learn several times a week. LOVELY!!!! I called my doctor and he insisted I come in to do a blood test. Basically I have been exposed to this disease and I'm praying that it has not affected our little angel Lucas! (if so, it can cause some problems with the baby) The doctor doesn't want me going back to work. I'll be 38 weeks in 2 days so he said that if he has to take the baby out, me and baby will be just fine. I have to wait up to a week for the blood test results..talk about stressful! I'm trying not to think about it too much, I'm pretty confident that my immune system has fought off the virus that was brought into the classroom and that it didn't affect my baby. Please say a prayer for me, Lucas, and my hubby Jeff (since he's very upset about this whole thing). We'll just have to wait and see. As for now, I will be spending my days home, relaxing, resting, and of course going to my parent's house to hang out (since they are our neighbors) :)

37 1/2 weeks

Today Jeff and I had our appointment for my 37 1/2 week check up. My cervix is very soft and I'm "almost" dilated. (says the doctor) I began work again this week (after having a whole week off for Thanksgiving~it was hard to go back) It went pretty well~ just getting contractions a lot and with the children it's hard. My class is so cute and caring~ they are very sensitive to my feelings and the baby's well being.

I'm not complaining since the pregnancy has been just wonderful....but I'm not able to sleep at night. I'm up every hour and once I get comfortable I have to use the bathroom, of course! :) What fun. What's crazy is to think that in a few weeks our Christmas angel will be arriving! We are definitely excited and are all ready for Lucas' arrival. The nursery is ready, the car seat is in the mini van, and the hospital bags are packed...now we just wait.....

Next appointment~ December 9th!

Welcome to the Mommy's Mini Van Club!

Jeff bought me a NEW CAR the other day~a beautiful Honda Odyssey. We traded in the BMW for something that is more suitable for our family now! I always said that I would never drive a mini van and here I am, driving one and loving it! I actually learned how to drive AND took my driving test on my mom's mini van. This van has all the goods..leather seats, automatic doors on both sides, DVD player in the back for the kid(s), 3rd row seating (I had Jeff leave the back row down so I have room for the stroller and shopping bags!!!) , and all these other goodies I'm still learning about. We have everything ready in the car for Lucas...we don't know when he's going to decide to arrive...his car seat, the mirror, and the shade are all ready to be used!

Our Nursery

Our nursery is almost complete. We still have to hang the diaper holder that matches the bedding set...we are going to hang it from the ceiling to the left of the changing table (which I'm really excited about) and eventually one of these days I'm going to either buy or make Lucas' name and hang the letters over his crib. I saw some nice wood ones that would match his crib at Pottery Barn Kids so I might be getting those! :)

37 Weeks!

O my goodness!!! Today (black Friday) I am 37 weeks! Instead of shopping today, I'm relaxing in my beautiful home cuddled up in my cozy robe. I'm so cold and still not feeling that great. A few nights ago, I was woken up in the middle of the night with back pain and cramps!!!! Last night (Thanksgiving) I was extremely uncomfortable for most of the day!!! Last night, when I laid in bed I was getting contractions! They didn't feel good, that's for sure :) Can't wait for the REAL ones to come! Every night, it seems harder and harder to get comfortable without laying on my back! Pretty soon, our Christmas angel will arrive and I won't remember half of this! I really can't complain though, this pregnancy has been wonderful! I'll keep everyone posted for sure!!!!

36 Weeks and counting....

Hello everyone! Jeff and I had our 36 1/2 week appointment today. The doctor said that the cramping I was experiencing were the beginning of contractions! I couldn't believe it :) My cervix was completely closed last week and this week the doctor said that it is "soft" so we're assuming that next week I might start dialating...WOo HoO! The nursery is all set pretty much and I will be posting pictures soon!

More Baby Shower Pictures

Baby Shower

Here are some pics from my baby shower. My mom and sister were busy making all the goodies, getting the usable decorations, and creating fun games to play throughout the day. My sister and mom made chocolate covered cookies that were molded into baby animals (my theme), a yummy teddy bear cupcake cake, and a delicious vanilla cake. The favors were personalized M&Ms that said "Mommy 2 B, Daddy 2 B, Baby Boy, and Baby Jeffrey"(these were ordered before we changed the baby's name) It was so nice to see everyone...friends that I haven't seen in a few months drove all the way to my shower to visit me and Baby Lucas. Thank you everyone for coming and all the lovely gifts that we got... I am truly blessed to have you all in my life. Those of you that couldn't come to the shower, you were thought of and missed. Can't wait for everyone to meet my little man!

Our One Year Anniversary

What a lovely night...we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Roy's Restaurant (where we had our rehearsal dinner) Our table was decorated with Hawaiian flowers, candles...our waiter brought us a beautiful dessert that said Congrats It's a Boy! and Happy One Year Anniversary! written in Hawaiian in milk chocolate. When we got home, we enjoyed just a bite of our wedding cake because we were so full from dinner. It was yummy! I was surprised it still stayed fresh..it tasted better than our wedding night (or maybe that's just because I'm prego)Here are some pics of our special night.

Isleworth

Jeff and I celebrated our ONE YEAR Anniversary on the 3rd of November. I now officially have the CD for my entire wedding photos! YEAH!!!

Our Halloween Housewarming Party

On the night after Halloween Jeff and I hosted our Housewarming Party. We had such a wonderful time and so did our guests. I took some pics of our friends/family that dressed in costume. It was such fun to see everyone and show off our home. My sister created my Pumpkin belly costume and she helped me make Jeff's poker outfit. She is very talented! :)
