The journey....the happy results!
It was Thursday, December 4th and I thought that my water had broken...Jeff and I were off to the hospital! We were excited and nervous (at least I was) all at the same time. We waited in the triage for 4 hours...once we were seen, I was hooked up to a monitor. Lucas' heart rate dropped once while I was on the monitor. The nurse said that I was going to be admitted because of that. I was brought a labor room and that's when the fun began. :) I was induced (even though I was only 1 cm dilated) I was induced Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday. NOTHING! Lucas' heart rate dropped twice more and things started getting emotional. I wasn't dilating any more and I was effacing too slow. (even though I was experiencing contractions every minute!) Jeff and I decided for the health of the baby and the sanity of ourselves, I would get a C-Section. Saturday around 7pm I got an epidural and after that the fun began. The nurses prepped me for surgery and got Jeff dressed for the operation room. Our angel was born at 9:03 pm weighing 6 pounds and measuring 18 1/2 inches. He is absolutely PERFECT! We are so blessed to have a healthy, beautiful baby boy!

No more work for me...
Today was the first day I didn't go to work...and it's not because I'm not doing well...it's because another first grade student at my school has Fifth Disease!!!! Since I have the inclusion class, students from the "infected" class come into my classroom to learn several times a week. LOVELY!!!! I called my doctor and he insisted I come in to do a blood test. Basically I have been exposed to this disease and I'm praying that it has not affected our little angel Lucas! (if so, it can cause some problems with the baby) The doctor doesn't want me going back to work. I'll be 38 weeks in 2 days so he said that if he has to take the baby out, me and baby will be just fine. I have to wait up to a week for the blood test results..talk about stressful! I'm trying not to think about it too much, I'm pretty confident that my immune system has fought off the virus that was brought into the classroom and that it didn't affect my baby. Please say a prayer for me, Lucas, and my hubby Jeff (since he's very upset about this whole thing). We'll just have to wait and see. As for now, I will be spending my days home, relaxing, resting, and of course going to my parent's house to hang out (since they are our neighbors) :)

37 1/2 weeks
Today Jeff and I had our appointment for my 37 1/2 week check up. My cervix is very soft and I'm "almost" dilated. (says the doctor) I began work again this week (after having a whole week off for Thanksgiving~it was hard to go back) It went pretty well~ just getting contractions a lot and with the children it's hard. My class is so cute and caring~ they are very sensitive to my feelings and the baby's well being.
I'm not complaining since the pregnancy has been just wonderful....but I'm not able to sleep at night. I'm up every hour and once I get comfortable I have to use the bathroom, of course! :) What fun. What's crazy is to think that in a few weeks our Christmas angel will be arriving! We are definitely excited and are all ready for Lucas' arrival. The nursery is ready, the car seat is in the mini van, and the hospital bags are packed...now we just wait.....
Next appointment~ December 9th!
